Let’s begin!

1. Hurricane

The History of the Brand

Hurricane has a line of popular deck boats it sells: the FunDeck, SunDeck Sport, and standard SunDeck. They even make center console boats if you’re interested in one of those. Whether you wish to use your boat for cruising with friends, a date night, or for water activities and sports like wakeboarding or fishing, there’s a Hurricane boat for you.

Its Top Models

Here are three Hurricane deck boat models you might consider if you’re interested in buying from this brand.

  1. SunDeck 187 I/O

As a Hurricane best-seller, the SunDeck 187 has a length of 18 feet, 10 inches and a beam length of eight feet, five inches. It can fit up to 10 passengers and has its own fishing livewell with a pump. A rich stereo with dual speakers, AUX connectivity and app readiness, and MA100 Bluetooth will keep you entertained on the water.

This boat weighs 3,925 pounds wet and 3,575 pounds dry. The SunDeck 187 includes a 13-gallon freshwater tank. It also has a 36-gallon fuel capacity. The windshield wraps around the front, and you even get a bow telescoping ladder.

  1. FunDeck FD 226 OB

The appealing FunDeck FD 226 OB is 22 feet, two inches long with a beam length of seven feet, 6.5 inches. The boat has room for 13 passengers. It weighs 3,260 pounds wet and 2,400 pounds when dry. The fuel capacity is 27 gallons, which means you can enjoy long afternoons on the water without refilling.

You get the same entertainment system, but this time with four speakers. The stern telescoping ladder looks and feels amazing each time you use it. A quick-release windscreen and swiveling captain’s chair add class to this deck boat.

  1. SunDeck Sport SS 192 OB

You’ll have boatloads of fun (pun intended) in the SunDeck Sport SS 192 OB. A smaller boat with space for just 10 people, it measures 18 feet, 10 inches long with a beam length of eight feet, five inches. You get a more modest freshwater tank here, only 13 gallons, but a good fuel capacity of 36 gallons. Dry, this boat weighs 2,400 pounds. It’s also 3,535 pounds wet.

Most of the standard features in the other two Hurricane deck boats make an appearance here, especially those in the OG SunDeck.

They’ve received awards for Top 100 Dealers, the Innovation Award for their SLX 400 boat, and a Customer Satisfaction Index prize from the National Marine Manufacturers Association. The only way to earn that reward? The company must have had a customer satisfaction rating greater than 90 percent, which Sea Ray easily achieved.

Its Top Models

Let’s explore three deck boat models from Sea Ray now.

  1. SDX 290

The SDX 290 comes packed with great features, including a beam in a carried-forward style and a plunging V-shaped hull. With a spacious cockpit and a sizable bow, you can get to the speeds you covet in a wonderful boat. The beam measures nine feet long while the boat itself is 29 feet, two inches. It weighs 6,595 pounds dry and can carry as many passengers as a yacht. You get a water capacity of 20 gallons and a fuel capacity of 85 gallons.

  1. SDX 270 Outboard

With its outbound motor from Mercury Verado, the SDX 270 has plenty of power without sacrificing handling or comfort. It also never rides too loudly. This heavy boat weighs 7,030 pounds dry. Equally as big, it has a nine-foot beam and a length of 29 feet, two inches. It can fit as many passengers as you’d find on a yacht. The History of the Brand

With an international reach, the Regal boat brand has grown significantly since its early days in 1969 when creators Carol and Paul Kuck started it. Back then, they called it Regal Marine Industries. Although they experienced some misfortune during the energy crisis, the Kucks recovered beautifully, allowing Regal to not only regain its footing, but progress in leaps and bounds.

Carol and Paul Kuck have since retired, but Pam, Tim, and Duane—their children—run Regal today.

Its Top Models

Like Sea Ray, Regal produces sports yachts, express cruisers, cuddy boats, outboard vessels, and bowriders as well as deck boats. There are only two deck boat models to choose from, and we’ll cover them both now.

  1. 22 FasDeck

This deck boat stretches 22 feet, four inches long with a 40-gallon tank capacity and a beam that’s eight feet, six inches. It weighs 3,850 pounds dry. Other features are a Bimini top, an aluminum windshield header (and a curved windshield), vinyl ester barrier coating, a stainless steel bow ladder, a Fusion UD650 marine stereo, helm seating, and six cockpit speakers with Bluetooth.

The most powerful engine choice for the 26 FasDeck is the Volvo V8 380 EVC Catalyst, capable of achieving 380 HP.

Most of the same features are back, but they’re upgraded. For instance, now you get a Garmin 742xs with a B60 transducer. You also have access to the Stereo Performance & Light Package for better sound and a cooler look to your boat. It includes speakers, a transom remote, a subwoofer, an amplifier, speakers from Fusion Signature, and LED lights in blue.

The company has expanded to the point where today, they have manufacturing facilities that exceed a million square feet. More than 800 people work at Chaparral, most boat builders that have second-generation and even third-generation heritage.

Its Top Models

The SunCoast line of outboard deck boats are Chaparral’s specialty. Let’s explore these in more detail now.

5. Stingray

The History of the Brand

The next brand up is Stingray. More than just its cool-sounding name, Stingray is a Hartsville, South Carolina-based company that has a ton of manufacturing space. Okay, not an actual ton, but 225,000 square feet. They use robots to make their boats and parts.

Long before that, the company got its start in 1979, when Al Fink began the brand. He made only two boats back then. Today, Stingray proudly offers more than 20 vessels, among them cuddies, cruisers, sports decks, and deck boats.

Its Top Models

Which deck boats are included in the Stingray family? Here’s three top models.

  1. 216CC

Small but fierce, the 216CC from Stingray is 21 feet and eight inches long. It has a beam length of 101 inches, a fuel capacity of 57 gallons, and a water tank capacity of 13 gallons. You can bring 10 people onboard with a max weight limit of 3,050 pounds. The 216CC comes outfitted with a 200-HP engine and weighs 3,150 pounds dry.

The boat includes a deluxe console cockpit, a cockpit cooler with tackle storage for fishing, bow storage, Cool Touch Vinyl, a hull with a Z-plane, and a safety glass windshield.

  1. 201DS

Another nice deck boat from Stingray, the 201DS is even smaller, what with its overall length of 20 feet, one inch. It too has a 100-inch beam. It doesn’t go as fast, as its engine is capable of only 115 HP. The 201DS also weighs less, just 2,800 pounds. You can still fit 10 people onboard, an impressive feat. The 201DS has a three-gallon water tank capacity and a 46-gallon fuel tank capacity.

You can select from three packages. The Fishing Package includes rod holders, a fishing seat, a trolling motor plug and harness, and a trolling motor mount you can take off. With the Stainless Steel Hardware Package, you can add stainless steel dish rails, windshield supports, cup holders, horn covers, and gunnel molding. You also have the Preferred Equipment Group package. This comes with a bow ladder, an RA-55 stereo from Fusion, deluxe bolster seats, and a Bimini top from Sunbrella.

  1. 182SC

Stay compact on the seas with the 182SC deck boat. A mere 19 feet, one inch long, this boat has a smaller beam at 90 inches. It can carry 21 pounds of fuel at once. As for passengers, you can bring nine of them. The dry weight of the boat is 2,000 pounds. The engine only gets to 90 HP.

All the features and packages that come with the 216CC and the 201DS are options for the 182SC as well.

6. Four Winns

The History of the Brand

A Michigan company, Four Winns produces cruisers, deck boats, and bowriders. They offer vessels with outboard motors or sterndrive features depending on your preferences. In 2013, the company’s original founder, Charles Winn (the namesake of Four Winns as well) sadly died. These days, Rec Boat Holdings manages Four Winns.

Its Top Models

Let’s talk about a mix of the outboard and sterndrive deck boats that Four Winns has to offer.

  1. HD 180 OB

Our first pick is the HD 180 OB, an outboard deck boat. It’s small, as its max length is 18 feet, six inches with a beam length of eight feet, four inches. It can still carry nine people, and it has a 32-gallon fuel capacity, to boot. The boat weighs 2,700 pounds. You can get it in hues like Phantom Gray, Liquid Blue, Jet Black, Crimson Red, or Classic Navy.

The Mercury 90 EXPLT CT 4S engine gives the HD 180 OB enviable speed on the water. With dual speakers that have MP3 and USB capabilities as well as a stereo with Bluetooth, you’ll never be bored. The helm comes with the custom gauges standard with Four Winns vessels. These happen to prevent fogging especially well.

  1. HD 270

Next, we’ve got the HD 270, a bigger boat. This one is 26 feet, six inches long with a beam length of eight feet, five inches. It has a yacht carrying capacity and can hold 70 gallons of fuel before you have to fill up. Much heavier than the HD 180 OB, the HD 270 weighs 5,350 mighty pounds. It has the same color options.

Want to pull some wakeboarders or tubers? You can with a stainless steel ski tow. This boat can reach 300 HP thanks to the MerCruiser 6.2-liter 300 EC/Bravo III engine. The appealing helm has LED accent lights, vinyl that’s fitted by hand, and even a charge port with USB connectivity. The same features as above also apply.

  1. HD 270 OB

Then there’s the outboard version of the HD 270 in the HD 270 OB. It’s about as long, just 26 feet, five inches. Yes, it’s one inch shorter. It has a yacht carrying capacity and a fuel capacity of 70 gallons as well. The beam is also eight feet, five inches. The HD 270 OB weighs slightly less, as it’s 5,130 pounds.

Otherwise, it has pretty much the same features as the sterndrive HD 270 save for its Mercury 250XL Verado engine.

Contact Information

Stay in touch with Four Winns on their website. Their address is 925 Frisbie Street, Cadillac, Michigan, 49601.

7. Bayliner

The History of the Brand

Our last pick is Bayliner. Orin Edson began this brand way back in 1957. Under Brunswick Boat Group (owned by Brunswick Corporation) today, Bayliner has expanded to more than 60 countries. The manufacturer also has 400 dealers and counting. It certainly has an interesting past and a very bright future!

Its Top Models

Like several of the manufacturers we’ve covered, Bayliner sells wakesports vessels, deck boats, center consoles, and bowriders. We’ll focus on the deck boats, of course.

  1. Element E21

There are three versions of the Element, with the E21 our favorite. That’s because this 20-foot, eight-inch boat can carry 10 passengers with a good fuel capacity of 44 gallons. It has a beam length of seven feet, nine inches and can get to 150 HP with its XL EFI Mercury FourStroke outboard engine.

If you want to engage in watersports in the Element E21, you can. It has a sky tow pylon, a wakeboard rack (you can get up to two), and an Xtreme tower that comes with an integrated top.

  1. DX2050

A different style of deck boat entirely, the DX2050 is a sterndrive boat that can have dual consoles or a side console depending on your floorplan preferences. This deck boat measures 19 feet, six inches long with a beam that’s eight feet, one inch. It can tow nine people. The DX2050 has a fuel capacity of 35 gallons and can achieve 250 HP.

The engine is an ECT 4.5-liter MPI MerCruiser Sterndrive with an Alpha 1 outdrive. The cockpit comes with a helm seat that can swivel 180 degrees as well as a glove box and dual speakers. You also get wakeboard and ski storage onboard. The 12-volt navigation lights will keep your boat illuminated, even in tough situations.

  1. Element XR7

You might also consider the Element XR7 from Bayliner. With the brand’s own M-hull, this boat has two designs: the tidy aft-lounge or L-lounge for more space. The model is 25 feet, six inches long and has a beam that’s eight feet, six inches. You get a fuel capacity of 40 gallons and room for up to 16 passengers. Not bad! The boat can also reach 250 HP easily; again, not too shabby.

That M-Hull we mentioned before can handle calm or choppy conditions with aplomb. It allows you to track with better control and more stability. The Mercury 150 FourStroke outboard engine is another staple.

Contact Information

You can start shopping for your Bayliner boat by visiting their website here. Bayliner’s address is 800 South Gay Street, Suite 1200, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37934. You can also call them at 865-582-2200.

Conclusion

If you’re considering a deck boat, any of the seven brands we covered in this list make phenomenal vessels. From well-known ones like Hurricane to Chaparral, Bayliner, Stingray, and everything in between, you can’t go wrong. Good luck!
